Star Cathcart was born and raised in Columbia, MO and enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 2005 after playing 2 years of college basketball. She served 5 years in the Marine Corps spending the majority of her time with Third MAW MALS-11, as an FA-18 Aviation Electronics Technician and Production Supervisor. Star deployed on the USS Nimitz during her time in the Marine Corps.

Star and her husband Michael transitioned out of the Marine Corps and Navy respectively back in 2011 and moved their family to Missouri to pursue Business Administration degrees from Columbia College while being near family again. Star graduated from her bachelor’s program in 2012 and began working as a project manager for IBM for several years. In 2016, Star graduated from Stephens College with her Master’s in Strategic Leadership. Star has worked for IBM as a Complex IT Project Manager for 3 years prior to being employed with Team RWB as a Midwest Regional Program Manager.

Star volunteered in her community with Team RWB for 3 years as the Community Engagement Director. In 2017, Star was selected to be an Eagle Leader Fellow by Team RWB and in that same year she became the Co-Chair on the Central Missouri Community Veterans Engagement Board. Outside of her RWB volunteer activities, Star is a Yoga Fit certified yoga teacher, has been volunteering in her local church as an Off-Stage Director, Small Group Leader, and a Healing Circle Facilitator. Star and her husband Michael have three kids: Leilani, Zara, Nico and two dogs Bo and She-Ra. Star’s favorite things to do are spend time with her tribe and practicing yoga.
