REGION : rocky mountains
Lara Romero is a Colorado Native surrounded by five military bases within a 25-mile radius. Lara explored yoga shortly after being in a life altering car accident. She found a new tool to help her in calming her anxiety, helping her get out of long bouts of depression and a new resource for her physical and mental health. Shortly after her practice began and seeing the psycho-emotional benefits, she had a calling to complete her 200hr YTT in 2014. It was mid-way through her training that she found her passion lies with helping our heroes. Lara opened Eighteenth Element Yoga, a trauma sensitive yoga studio in 2015, whose mission is to support our heroes; Veterans, Active duty, First Responders and their families. She joined the VYP family in January of 2015 and has been teaching the program ever since she left her initial training.
Lara comes from a military family; her grandfather was a POW in the Korean War and she is the wife of an OIF veteran. The aftermath of war has always been in Lara’s life but with a supportive foundation provided by her grandfather and father. She has always known that we can heal when we have support. It is from that foundation she continues to serve her community by being a resource and facilitating a space where healing can occur. Her support recently grew in 2019 after her 14 year-old daughter graduated her 200hr Trauma Sensitive Teacher Training becoming the youngest yoga instructor in Colorado offering Trauma Sensitive classes through the lens of a teenager.
Lara is a 200hr E-RYT, Phoenix Rising Yoga Therapist, YFFR Ambassador, 140hr YogaFit Warriors Instructor, Y12SR, Children’s Yoga Teacher, Yoga-Nidra Teacher through the Traditional Yoga Studies School and has trained with several trauma sensitive yoga programs clocking in over 1750 hours of training since 2015 in trauma. Lara is the co-owner of Eighteenth Element Yoga, she offers a 200hr Trauma Sensitive Yoga Teacher Training. She will complete her IAYT certification in early 2020.
