MATT TAYLOR / PHOENIX, AZ
Matt discovered yoga at his sports medicine health club in 1996. As the owner of the club and a back care expert, he was amazed when after just two months attending the weekly yoga class his chronic back pain was essentially gone.
Long story short, nothing has been the same since. A doctorate in yoga-based chronic pain care, authoring many articles and books, as well as international leadership in yoga therapy was not in the plans for this US Army trained physical therapist. While a board member and eventual president, Matt helped initiate the standards and accreditation process of the International Association of Yoga Therapists. Joining Veterans Yoga Project brings his 36-year career full circle uniting his passions of yoga and honoring those who have served. As a burn specialist PT for 8 years active duty, the opportunity to again serve our veterans in reclaiming their lives feels very much like “home.”
